Gnome down! Beans up.

Not all news is good news from the garden this week.

A faithful friend takes a spill

Before the accident

In a tragic twist of fate one of my garden guardians was knocked off his post and suffered a massive head trauma. Although part of his ear is missing forever, he has completed gorilla glue treatment and is on the mend. He should be returning to his post soon.

Yard updates – 2 weeks later

Most of the plants have been homed in pots… finally. I still have like 8 spare tomato plants. Time to find them homes before it’s too late?

Center section

We have beans! So many! I really wanted to lean into string beans this year because they are so easy to pick and cook with. So I have like 10 purple bean plants (trionfo violet pole beans, botanic interests seeds). I added bamboo teepees to encourage the beans to climb. Mint is very happy. Green onions are coming in slowly.

Shady corner

The experimental corner- can these plants survive with basically no direct sun? Stay tuned to find out. Astilbe already has some color, bleeding hearts have some flowers.

West section

It’s mostly about snap peas at the moment until things really heat up. My tomato plant over here is a little sad so I might swap out for another baby tomato plant. Cosmos and blooming, hoping they grow bigger.

East section

Tomatoes are getting bigger, and I put up some bamboo teepees for support. Still need to finalize the watering system but it has been raining basically every day so haven’t been terribly motivated. Zinnias aren’t thriving but doing ok.

Green stalk

The vertical garden is mostly planted with flowers and herbs, but still have some vacant pockets left over. I’m waiting to see if any more beans show up before replacing those pockets with something else. Marigolds aren’t very happy yet. might just not be getting enough sun.

Miscellaneous

Harvest

Assorted herb clippings.
