Liz’s Bee Rescue and Pepper Roastery

Summer is in full swing and the plants are growing up fast!

New beginnings

Sown:

  • Trionfo violet beans
  • More bush provider beans
  • Swiss chard

Propagated:

  • Sungold tomato sucker. Put some in water for about a week until I saw root development then potted.

Progress and projects

I made an aesthetic improvement to the hose that feeds into the top of my greenstalk. I didn’t like the green so I wrapped it in woven black cable organizer. I don’t know how it will hold up in the sun, but so far I like the new look.

Happenings

Wildlife

Lots of birds and squirrels have stopped by for a drink. One poor bee found himself swimming in a bird bath. He was showing signs of life so I offered him a rescue mulch raft and put him somewhere to rest. He was gone the next day, hopefully off to pollinate more plants!

Harvest

I harvested my first mariachi peppers! The first taste of a raw one left me with the impression that they were sweet like bell peppers. I roasted a few on the grill, tasted one, and it was hot! Who knows.
