It’s officially summer and the tomatoes are jazzed.
It’s been a satisfying few weeks in the yard. Most plants are coming along nicely and I’ve stopped adding new plants or moving things around much. No major pests have arrived yet. No harvest other than herbs.
Cat and mouse mystery game
I’ve been visited upon by a mystery in the garden. I added some compost to my containers and have persistent visitors trying to munch on whatever morsels they can sniff out.
They have dug into this container from the top and bottom (after I added a lid).

East section

- Tomatoes are taking off (except for the fourth guy on the right who consistently looks quite sad). I can’t remember what variety that one is but I fear it’s my purple ones.
- Auto watering is still not perfect, but good enough for leaving town occasionally.
Center section

- Beans are reaching for the sky!!
- So far no Japanese beetles or grasshoppers have shown up to harass the beans (knock on wood)
Shady corner

- I think the astilbe is officially a goner. I have no idea what went wrong.
- Mint is visiting this corner while I figure out the right water/ sunlight balance. He started to get a little crispy.
- Coral bells seem the happiest.
West section

Green stalk

I split the stack and put a few tiers up on the shelf so they can get more sun. This works great until I go out of town. I have to re-stack them so my hose timer can water the whole thing from the top while I’m gone.

Harvest
Misc herb cuttings.
