August in the garden

Another update for the month of August.

Garden season is in the home stretch! I’m still getting lots of tomatoes, beans, greens, and peppers. Summer squash got hit hard by powdery mildew and is a little sad and not very productive. Winter squashes also got mildew but are growing quickly, and even setting some fruit. Cucumbers are very sad.

Long term beets, carrots, parsnips, Brussels sprouts, and leeks are plugging along.

I’m starting to think about how I want to lay things out next year already, and how I’d adjust my seed starting times.

We have two community work days left before the season ends in October. It will be time to wrap things up for winter before I know it!

  1. Wow! I am impressed! You’ve got enough veggies for a produce stand!
My tomatoes still green, the beans are blossoming again and will be loaded. Peppers are a little stunted.
